DEVLOG #1 - Tales from the Dome, starting this journey
What is it we’re making?
Tales from the Dome is a non-linear single-player role-playing game set 50 years after the Earth ecological collapse, a blend between S.T.A.L.K.E.R and Fallout.
Features
- Dynamic AI - each faction has their own goals the player can influence the course of history in their world.
- Branching Story - an RPG where your decisions matter, no matter how small.
- Real-ishm - from the combat to the crafting, the goal is to feel believable and fun.
Story
Humanity survives within giant, fortified domes dotted throughout the land. Hope is not lost. Hulking robotic machines are hard at work terraforming the Earth, Humanity needs to only last until the machines finish their tasks.
Inhabitants of the domes have developed a complex class system which favours the few, the managers of the domes have isolated themselves away from the populace, focusing entirely on the domes themselves.
Life within the Domes is blissful compared to the outside world, food and general supplies are plentiful, but crucial supplies that are needed to maintain the dome itself have begun to run dry. The lower classes have been conscripted to scavenge the toxic landscape.
Outside of the Domes, small groups of people (among other things) have banded together to eke out an existence. Some are friendly and willing to trade, others, not so much.
You play as one of those low-class scavengers, promised a better life for serving the dome.
When can we play it?
There is no release date set yet, but the aim is to have a playable demo as soon as possible so we can gather feedback and iterate quickly.
Where can we follow development?
On our the Discord or on Youtube.
Whats next?
Right now, the plan is to have a prototype ready to test by the end of 2023. That will then be used to look for funding to fully develop the project. Currently, I’m bring on a small team of contractors to help me bring the prototype to life.
